2002 – 2004 Campaign for Antioch College, $65 million goal ($35 million raised during my presidency).
2004 Mellon Foundation: to support Antioch College curriculum renewal project.
2003 Mellon Foundation: to support Antioch College infrastructure.
1995 – 1998

NEH Challenge Grant: to support international and intercultural education at Lehigh University; raised required matching money from individual and corporate donors.

Solicited, received and installed major art acquisitions: permanent installations and outdoor sculpture at Lehigh University, including $1.5 million Henry Moore bronze.

Hewlett Foundation: to add research experiences to introductory courses across the curriculum, and increase undergraduate research participation (Lehigh University).

FIPSE, U.S. Department of Education: to support curriculum innovation in science and to develop the SCY (Science Community Year) program, a supportive learning community for first-year science students (Rollins College).

Jessie Ball duPont Religious, Charitable & Educational Fund: to establish the Florida Interacademic Consortium, a school-college partnership for Florida.

NEH: to support expansion to rural and inner-city public high schools of Kenyon’s School-College Program.

FIPSE: to develop 5-STEP, a new consortial model and 5-year double degree program for combining liberal arts and teacher education (Kenyon College; Teachers College, Columbia University; and Bank Street College of Education, New York).
